Tonight, the queen is hosting a banquet! In Courtiers, you receive and play 3 cards on each of your turns.
Each turn, you play 3 cards: one at the Queen's table to influence the status of a family, one at your house and one at an opponent's. At the end of the game, it is the balance of power at the banquet that determines which families earn you points or cause you to lose points.
On your turn you play 3 Courtiers cards, each representing one of the families of the royal court. Two of these cards are placed at your place and at an opponent's place in order to form collections. The last one is played at the queen table in order to influence each family: place a card above or below the board to give a positive or negative value to the corresponding family.
The twists and turns are legion because certain Courtiers have specific roles. Spies could slip into your game and make the outcome uncertain. Unless assassins come and take away the cards that earn you the most. To get the most points and win, you will have to collect the right families while preserving their value at the queen's table.
